France and the Sultanate of Oman have agreed to expand cooperation across trade, investment, defence, education and regional security following His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s official visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron.
The leaders opened a Franco-Omani business forum and welcomed new agreements supporting investment, transport, renewable energy and scientific cooperation.
Key developments:
- More than 60 French and Omani companies participated in the business forum.
- A Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Promotion was signed to encourage bilateral investment.
- Both countries pledged closer cooperation on maritime security, defence and freedom of navigation.
- The leaders reaffirmed support for diplomacy, the Two-State solution, regional de-escalation and international law.
The joint declaration also highlighted stronger cooperation in education, culture and research while reaffirming support for peace efforts in the Middle East, Yemen and Ukraine, alongside continued collaboration on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
