Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed he intends to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September, dismissing criticism from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Speaking in a televised interview, Netanyahu said he was “not concerned” by Mamdani’s remarks and confirmed he plans to travel to New York unless prevented by security conditions. Responding to the mayor’s criticism, he accused Mamdani of “fomenting hate”, adding that a mayor “is supposed to be the mayor of all New Yorkers” rather than “trying to turn one group against the other”.
Addressing questions about the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant, Netanyahu described the allegations against him as “bogus charges” and criticised former ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan, whose removal from office followed disciplinary proceedings over sexual misconduct allegations that he has denied.
The ICC arrest warrants issued during Khan’s tenure remain in force despite his departure.
