One year after the 2025 Washington Peace Summit, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process during separate calls marking the anniversary.
Both leaders highlighted progress in normalising bilateral relations, including expanding trade, transport links and regional economic cooperation. They also recognised the role of US President Donald Trump and the US government in supporting negotiations that led to the initialling of the peace agreement.
Key developments:
- Pashinyan said peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan was now “visible and tangible”, while noting the agreement still requires formal signing and ratification.
- Aliyev and Trump welcomed a year of regional stability and discussed progress on the TRIPP transport corridor.
- Both sides pointed to growing trade, including Azerbaijani petroleum exports to Armenia and increased transit connectivity.
