Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Thailand Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation during the Singapore-Thailand Leaders’ Retreat in Bangkok on Wednesday (2 Sep).
The leaders adopted a Forward-Looking Strategic Partnership, reaffirming cooperation on defence, trade and regional security while expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence, the digital and green economies, energy resilience and food security.
Key developments
- Singapore and Thailand will coordinate closely during their ASEAN chairmanships in 2027 and 2028.
- Both countries pledged deeper cooperation on AI, cybersecurity, cross-border payments and supply chain resilience.
- The leaders reaffirmed support for a rules-based international order and closer coordination on regional issues, including Myanmar and the Thailand-Cambodia border situation.
