Egypt and China have concluded the Eagles of Civilization 2026 joint air training exercise, which ended on Monday (7 Sep) after more than two weeks of operations across several Egyptian air bases.

The exercise brought together multi-role fighter aircraft from both countries, beginning with theoretical sessions to standardise tactics and improve coordination before progressing to simulated operational missions.

Key developments

  • Multi-role fighter jets conducted offensive strike, defensive and aerial refuelling exercises.
  • Initial planning focused on harmonising operational concepts and joint mission procedures.
  • Training took place at multiple Egyptian air bases over a two-week period.
  • The exercise formed part of Egypt’s wider programme of joint military training with international partners.

The drills reflect continued Egypt-China defence cooperation, with both countries using the exercise to strengthen interoperability and expand military engagement through combined air operations.
