Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs’ centre-right United List has won Latvia’s 2026 parliamentary election, positioning the party to lead coalition negotiations after securing the largest share of the vote. The result signals continued support for Latvia’s pro-European Union and pro-Ukraine foreign policy.

Key developments:

  • United List won 35.4% of the vote and 42 of the 100 seats in the Saeima.
  • Populist parties also increased their representation, with campaigning focused on security and the cost of living.
  • Coalition talks are expected as no party won an outright majority.

While populist parties made gains, most mainstream parties have ruled out cooperating with those viewed as pro-Russian.
