Russia has launched its largest aerial assault on Ukraine over a two-day period since the start of the war, targeting Kyiv and other cities with drones and missiles, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He said more than 1,560 drones were launched since Wednesday (13 May), including 670 drones and 56 missiles overnight.

In Kyiv, Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said at least three people were killed and about 40 injured, with damage across 20 locations. Emergency services reported disruptions to water and electricity, with outages across 11 regions and strikes on energy, port and rail infrastructure.

Zelenskyy urged continued international support, saying Russia shows no sign of ending the war. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha linked the strikes to diplomatic efforts during US President Donald Trump’s visit to China. Fighting continues along a 1,200 km front line.
