At the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nordic leaders agreed to expand cooperation in green technology, trade, defence, climate action and advanced innovation.

Speaking during the joint press statement, Modi said India and the Nordic countries would elevate ties into a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership, combining Nordic expertise with India’s manufacturing scale and talent base.

Key developments included:

  • Expanded cooperation in clean energy, the blue economy and Arctic research
  • Joint work on 6G telecommunications, cybersecurity and health technology
  • Greater collaboration between universities, laboratories and start-up ecosystems
  • Increased focus on talent mobility, defence manufacturing and sustainable growth

Modi also highlighted the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement and the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, describing them as the beginning of a “new golden era” in India-Nordic relations.
