Bolivia has seen escalating anti-government protests as demonstrators intensified pressure on President Rodrigo Paz amid a worsening economic crisis, road blockades and shortages in La Paz.

Thousands of farmers, miners, teachers, public sector workers and Indigenous communities joined demonstrations demanding wage increases, economic stability and opposition to privatisation measures.

  • Bolivia’s inflation reached 14 percent year-on-year in April, the highest level in four decades.
  • Authorities reported more than 32 roadblocks nationwide, disrupting food, fuel and medicine supplies into La Paz.
  • Attorney General Roger Mariaca confirmed an arrest warrant for COB secretary-general Mario Argollo on terrorism and incitement charges.
  • Deputy Interior Minister Hernan Paredes said one protester died during earlier clashes.

The government has announced plans to establish a temporary “humanitarian corridor” to reopen blocked routes into the capital.
