The European Union has announced new measures to strengthen its partnership with Armenia, focusing on trade diversification, regional connectivity and economic resilience during European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Yerevan alongside Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met EU officials as both sides reaffirmed cooperation following Armenia’s recent elections and ongoing reforms.
Key developments:
- €52 million support package for Armenia, bringing total EU financial support to €288 million.
- Proposal for tariff-free access covering around 80% of Armenian exports to the EU.
- Up to €200 million for South Caucasus connectivity projects, with potential to mobilise €2 billion in investment.
- An additional €20 million for community peace, healthcare, demining and local economic development.
The EU said the measures aim to strengthen Armenia’s economy, expand access to the EU Single Market and support long-term regional stability.
