Speaking to media after the NATO Summit in Ankara, Türkiye, US President Donald Trump said, “I’m not sure I want to make a deal with them,” referring to future negotiations with Iran following renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran.

He said recent actions by Iran had changed his view of its leadership, adding that while US negotiators wanted to continue discussions, reaching an agreement could be difficult.

Asked whether the conflict could resume, Trump replied: “I don’t think it’s going to start again,” adding that any further escalation would happen “very quickly”.

The US President also questioned whether further diplomacy was worthwhile, saying: “We can play games, but I’m not sure I want to make a deal. I just finished the job,” suggesting he saw little need for further negotiations at this stage.

The remarks followed US strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets, including military infrastructure and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) assets, after attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump had previously said the US-Iran ceasefire was “over”, while Tehran accused Washington of violating the memorandum of understanding agreed last month.
