Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks in Moscow with Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fatumata Jau, during her working visit to Russia on Thursday (16 July).
The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Russia–Guinea-Bissau relations, discussing closer cooperation in trade, the economy, humanitarian affairs and joint projects while also reviewing regional and international developments.
Key developments:
- Expansion of cooperation in energy, mineral mining and processing, agriculture, and business.
- Reaffirmed support for political and diplomatic approaches to resolving conflicts in Africa.
- Agreed to strengthen coordination through the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
- Reviewed preparations for the Third Russia–Africa Summit, scheduled for October in Moscow.
Lavrov said Russia was ready to deepen bilateral relations to support Guinea-Bissau’s development and future cooperation.
