The UK has reaffirmed Britain’s support for Ukraine after the Russian Embassy in London warned the UK of “consequences” over reports that British-made drones had been used by Ukrainian forces in long-range strikes inside Russia.

The Russian Embassy in London said the reported use of British drones showed the UK was choosing to escalate the conflict while professing a desire for peace. It warned that Britain’s actions would “inevitably carry consequences” and that increased support for Kyiv would come at a “higher price”.

The UK Ministry of Defence neither confirmed nor denied the reports but said Russia should be “in no doubt” about the government’s resolve to stand against what it described as Russian aggression in Ukraine and against the UK and its allies.

Responding to the reports, Burnham said the UK would support Ukraine “100%” against what he described as Russia’s illegal war, adding that Britain was “not fair-weather friends” and would remain alongside Ukraine “in its hour of need”.

The exchange comes as fighting continues to intensify. Recent days have seen Russia increase missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure, while Ukraine has expanded long-range drone operations targeting military and industrial sites inside Russia, reflecting the growing importance of aerial warfare in the conflict.
