Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have signed a Treaty on Eternal Friendship as Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev expanded cooperation in trade, investment, energy and transport during the Azerbaijani leader’s state visit to Tashkent.

The two countries set a target of increasing bilateral trade to $1 billion by 2030, while highlighting new projects across key sectors.

Key developments include:

  • Launch of Azerbaijani-backed projects in banking, tourism, mining, agriculture and education.
  • Expansion of cooperation through the Middle Corridor and Trans-Caspian transport links.
  • Progress on energy projects, including potential renewable electricity connections across the Caspian Sea.
  • New agreements covering culture, tourism, pensions and institutional cooperation.

President Mirziyoyev described Azerbaijan as a “reliable ally, strategic partner and brotherly state”, while President Aliyev highlighted closer regional connectivity between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
