Singapore Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Kazakhstan’s leaders have agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, digitalisation, water management and regional connectivity during his official visit to Kazakhstan from 24–27 August 2026.
During meetings with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, both sides reaffirmed longstanding bilateral ties and discussed expanding cooperation between Southeast Asia and Central Asia. President Tokayev also conferred the Order of Dostyk (Friendship) of the First Class on Senior Minister Lee.
Key developments:
- Two agreements were signed covering water resources cooperation and digital trade integration along the Middle Corridor.
- Singapore and Kazakhstan will collaborate on AI, digitalisation, logistics and water sustainability.
- A second Joint Training Programme will train up to 30 mid-to-senior government officials from Central Asia in AI, digital development and STEM.
