The United States and Italy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation on critical minerals, with officials highlighting the importance of secure and affordable supplies for industrial competitiveness.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani signed the agreement in New York on Monday (21 Sep).
Rubio described critical minerals as a key area of cooperation between the two countries, while Tajani said access to raw materials was central to Italy’s industrial strategy as a major manufacturing economy.
The agreement follows wider discussions on critical minerals cooperation and aims to support collaboration between the two countries on supply chains and industrial policy.
