India and Switzerland have agreed to deepen cooperation across trade, investment, defence, technology and migration following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter in New Delhi on Monday (5 Oct).

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with discussions covering advanced manufacturing, innovation, clean energy, nuclear cooperation, education and people-to-people exchanges. They also welcomed closer collaboration under the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).

Key developments:

  • India and Switzerland signed a migration and mobility agreement.
  • Both countries identified new areas for cooperation in defence, nuclear energy and advanced technologies.
  • Leaders pledged to expand trade, investment and business partnerships while promoting innovation and skills cooperation.
