Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations during Modi’s state visit to Uzbekistan from 29–30 August 2026.
The leaders announced plans to elevate cooperation towards a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, covering trade, investment, security, technology, energy and education.
Key developments include:
- Expanded cooperation in defence, counter-terrorism and cybersecurity, including through joint military exercises.
- New efforts to increase trade, investment and industrial cooperation, including support for businesses.
- Greater collaboration in AI, digital transformation, space, critical minerals and renewable energy.
- Continued cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, transport connectivity and cultural exchanges.
The two countries also reaffirmed cooperation through international organisations, including the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS, while supporting reforms to global institutions.
