Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators marched across France on Saturday (24 Oct), taking part in nationwide protests focused on education, public services and wider social concerns.
- Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced the deployment of around 70,000 police officers and gendarmes to manage demonstrations and maintain public order.
- The French Interior Ministry estimated 410,000 people joined protests nationwide, including around 110,000 in Paris, while organisers reported a higher turnout of nearly 800,000.
- The demonstrations were largely peaceful, although isolated clashes occurred in Paris and elsewhere; authorities reported nearly 1,000 arrests as police responded to incidents involving violence and public disorder.
