North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the Chinese border city of Dandong on Saturday (24 Oct), crossing the newly opened New Yalu River Bridge in a move highlighting closer economic and diplomatic ties between China and North Korea.
Kim met Wang Huning, a senior Chinese Communist Party official, who conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping. The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, while the new bridge is expected to support cross-border trade and logistics.
China remains North Korea’s largest trading partner and a key economic supporter. Kim’s visit also included a tribute to Chinese soldiers who fought in the Korean War, ahead of the anniversary of China’s entry into the conflict, highlighting the continued strategic importance of bilateral relations.
