Russian President Vladimir Putin met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in St Petersburg on Monday (27 April), reaffirming Russia–Iran strategic relations amid an ongoing US-Iran ceasefire.

Putin confirmed he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader, expressing gratitude and reiterating Moscow’s intention to maintain close ties. He stated Russia would continue to support efforts aimed at regional stability and peace.

Araghchi, attending as Special Representative of Iran’s leadership, conveyed greetings from the Supreme Leader and President Masoud Pezeshkian, describing bilateral relations as a “strategic partnership at the highest level.” He added that Iran intends to strengthen cooperation with Russia despite current geopolitical developments.

The visit marks Araghchi’s first foreign trip following recent events, with discussions focused on diplomatic coordination and ongoing regional developments.
