Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo at the Kremlin on Wednesday (29 April) during the Congolese leader’s state visit to Russia.

The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation across energy, agriculture, logistics, education, security and economic development. Both leaders also highlighted preparations for the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for October 2026 in Moscow.

  • Plans to sign a joint multi-year economic action programme
  • Continued cooperation through the Russia-Congo intergovernmental commission
  • Russian support for education and specialist training programmes
  • Discussion of new projects in agriculture, fisheries, energy and logistics

Vladimir Putin said Russian companies were interested in expanding operations in Congo, while Denis Sassou Nguesso said both countries aimed to accelerate joint projects and strengthen long-term cooperation.
