Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met in Omsk during the 22nd Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum, where they discussed bilateral cooperation, trade, investment and regional collaboration.
Speaking at the forum, both leaders highlighted continued growth in economic ties and cooperation across logistics, industry, education and regional development.
Key developments:
- More than 650 officials, business leaders and regional representatives attended the forum.
- Bilateral trade reached almost US$29 billion in 2025, with both sides reporting further growth during the first five months of 2026.
- Russia said its investment in Kazakhstan has exceeded US$30 billion, while Kazakhstan cited 177 joint industrial projects, including 122 already implemented.
The leaders also discussed cooperation through regional organisations, humanitarian initiatives, education and future economic projects, reaffirming the strategic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
