Indonesia and Japan have signed a Defence Cooperation Arrangement (DCA) following high-level talks in Jakarta between Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Japanese Defence Minister Koizumi Shinjiro.
The agreement strengthens bilateral defence ties under a comprehensive strategic partnership, focusing on regional stability and practical cooperation across multiple security areas.
Key areas of cooperation include:
- Maritime security operations and coordination
- Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR)
- Defence equipment, technology, and capability development
Both sides also noted Japan’s recent easing of defence equipment regulations and agreed to deepen information security and operational coordination frameworks.
