Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Bank Indonesia (BI) have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on regional financial stability and sustainable economic growth.

The agreement establishes a broader framework for collaboration between the two central banks across several policy and regulatory areas.

Key developments include:

  • Cooperation on monetary policy, financial stability, and macroprudential policy
  • Expanded coordination on payment systems and financial digitalisation
  • Joint efforts in financial sector development, capacity-building, and information sharing
  • Continued bilateral engagement amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges

BNM Governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said the MoU reflects the longstanding partnership between the institutions and supports deeper collaboration in emerging areas of mutual interest.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the agreement reinforces institutional ties and cooperation during a challenging global geopolitical environment.
