India and the United Arab Emirates have agreed a framework for a strategic defence partnership during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Abu Dhabi, as both countries seek closer cooperation amid ongoing regional tensions linked to the Iran conflict.

India’s foreign ministry said the agreement will expand collaboration in defence manufacturing, maritime security, cyber defence, military training, advanced technology and information sharing.

The two sides also signed agreements covering strategic petroleum reserves and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies, while the UAE announced additional investments in India.
