Kazakhstan and Türkiye signed a Declaration on Eternal Friendship and Expanded Strategic Partnership during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s state visit to Astana, reinforcing bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, defence and digital development.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev described Türkiye as a “golden bridge” linking Europe and Asia, as both leaders chaired the sixth High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting.

Key developments included:

  • Bilateral trade rose nearly 9% to more than €4.5 billion, with both countries targeting €13 billion in future trade.
  • Kazakhstan and Türkiye signed agreements covering oil and gas, UAV production, investment protection, education and broadcasting.
  • Rail cargo volumes increased 35% this year as both sides expanded support for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
  • Turkish and Kazakh investments exceeded €7 billion combined across infrastructure, agriculture and digital sectors.
