Leaders of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) agreed new cooperation measures on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, transport routes and regional connectivity during a summit in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
Hosted by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the summit brought together leaders including Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev.
Officials discussed joint AI centres, cybersecurity cooperation, satellite projects and transport initiatives linked to the Middle Corridor, a key Eurasian trade route connecting Asia and Europe.
Aliyev said “our family, the Turkic world must transform into one of the influential geopolitical power centers of the 21st century.”
“in the current global geopolitical environment, the importance of the Middle Corridor continues further.”
“The Zangezur Corridor, which is moving toward realisation, will become one of the key segments of the Middle Corridor.”
Key developments included:
- Uzbekistan proposing a “Digital Turkic Corridor” for regional data exchange
- Launch of the “Five Million AI Leaders” education initiative
- Progress on the Trans-Caspian fibre-optic cable between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan
- Continued coordination on the Middle Corridor transport network
