Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper met in Beijing on Tuesday (2 Jun) for the 11th China–UK Strategic Dialogue, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation.

Wang said agreements reached during Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to China earlier in 2026 had helped place relations on a more stable footing. He called for increased high-level engagement and practical cooperation, while also urging a fair business environment for Chinese companies operating in Britain.

Cooper said a long-term and consistent comprehensive strategic partnership was in the interests of both countries. She highlighted opportunities for cooperation in:

  • Trade, finance and investment
  • Energy and climate change
  • Artificial intelligence and technology
  • High-level diplomatic engagement

The two ministers also exchanged views on Iran, Ukraine, Taiwan and other international and regional issues.
