Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to deepen the Egypt-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Xi’s state visit to Egypt on 1–2 September 2026.
The visit marked the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with both leaders highlighting cooperation in development, trade and international affairs.
Key areas of cooperation include:
- Expansion of projects linked to the Belt and Road Initiative, infrastructure and the Suez Canal Economic Zone
- Greater collaboration in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and manufacturing
- Increased financial cooperation, including local currency settlements and investment support
- Coordination on regional issues, including Gaza, Sudan and Red Sea security
Both sides reaffirmed support for a stronger role for developing countries and the Global South in international institutions.
