Russian President Vladimir Putin said there is still a possibility of reaching a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war during the plenary session of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok on Thursday (3 Sep).
Speaking alongside Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, Mongolia’s Prime Minister Nyam-Osoryn Uchral, Myanmar’s Vice President U Nyo Saw, and China’s Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, Putin said: “I believe that we do have a chance of finding the solution.”
He added that Russia and Ukraine should first reach an agreement, with other countries able to support the process. Putin also said attacks involving civilian infrastructure could complicate peace negotiations, accusing Western allies of Ukraine who remain silent on such incidents of becoming “accomplice[s] to international terrorism.”
Discussing ties with Washington, Putin said contacts with the US administration were continuing and expressed support for restoring “full-format relations” between Russia and the United States.
