Malaysia and Egypt have reaffirmed their Strategic Partnership during the first state visit to Malaysia by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, held from 9–10 October 2026 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

Following a state welcoming ceremony and royal audience, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and President Al Sisi held bilateral talks covering political relations, trade, investment, defence, the digital economy, energy, agriculture, education, tourism and regional issues.

Key developments:

  • Both leaders agreed to convene the second Joint Commission Meeting and Bilateral Consultations at the earliest opportunity.
  • They pledged to expand cooperation in halal industries, TVET, renewable energy, digital transformation, manufacturing, semiconductors and infrastructure.
  • Both countries highlighted their potential as gateways linking ASEAN, Arab, African and European markets.

The leaders said the strengthened partnership aims to deepen economic cooperation while supporting regional prosperity and long-term bilateral relations.
