US and Paraguay announced a series of initiatives aimed at expanding economic cooperation, strengthening security collaboration and advancing civil nuclear talks during US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau’s visit to Asunción from 19–21 October.

The announcements included new private sector investment, security assistance and agreements designed to combat organised crime and improve border management. Several initiatives, including aviation security measures and nuclear cooperation, remain subject to further implementation or negotiation.

Crusoe an American SI factory company, and Araico, a Paraguayan energy and infrastructure developer, agreed to develop AI infrastructure powered by the Itaipú Hydroelectric Dam, while Uranium Energy Corp announced a US$12 million investment in Paraguay.

The US Department of State pledged US$5.5 million for counterterrorism programmes and US$6.25 million to combat transnational organised crime.

Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau and Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano signed agreements covering airspace security and border screening, while both countries also launched negotiations towards a 123 Agreement on peaceful civil nuclear cooperation.
