Bangladesh and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in energy, trade, investment and education following talks in Moscow between Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The meeting also covered regional and global developments, cooperation within the United Nations, and opportunities to increase economic engagement between the two countries.

- Sergey Lavrov congratulated Dr Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
- Both sides expressed support for strengthening cooperation in trade, energy, education and technical sectors.
- Dr Khalilur highlighted the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant as a key symbol of Bangladesh-Russia cooperation.
- Bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Russia has exceeded US$2 billion annually in recent years.
During the visit, Dr Khalilur reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening relations with Russia and thanked Moscow for supporting his UNGA candidacy. The two foreign ministers later addressed a joint media briefing.
